Gear Reviews:

First and foremost, we are not going to accept equipment from major companies. DIY Tactical has, in the past, reviewed equipment from them, but feel this is not the direction we want to head in.

If you would like to send us a piece of equipment for review we are now accepting samples. This is being offered as a free service in order to help you gain exposure. We aren’t in this to collect free equipment so if you would like the item returned to you that is fine, we will require that the submitter pay return postage.

However, we do have a couple of options with the equipment that we do receive. Instead of the equipment sitting in a pile collecting dust, we may be able to use the gear in blog and other product photography, trade show displays and promotional literature, which of course gives you further exposure.

We would like to be able to get the gear sent to us into the hands of people that will be able to use it. With the permission of the company submitting the product we would like to use the items as prizes in blog giveaway contests. The contest will be prmoted as being sponsored by the donating company. Again this helps with exposure of the company, gets gear into circulation and also helps us build readership. So if you submit a piece of equipment please let us know if this is acceptable to you.

But better yet, as the blog grows we would like to place the equipment we collect over time up for auction on our website. All funds raised would go to a charity benefiting soldiers and their families such as “The Wounded Warrior Project” or one of the many others. This would most likely be a Quarterly or Bi-Annual event depending on how much gear has accumulated.

We think these options benefit everyone in the end. It further increases exposure of your products, but most of all the last two options help those that serve our country.

What we won’t do:

We will not review equipment that is submitted and doesn’t meet what we feel are basic quality criteria. This meaning proper construction techniques, attention to detail, quality materials, sensible design etc. It is our position that if you are looking to compete in the marketplace you should at least have the basic equipment of a professional which in turn will allow you to produce a quality product. By investing in this profession you are making a commitment and showing that you are probably ready to take on more customers.

This may sound negative but it is meant to help you as opposed to hurt you. We do not want to post a negative review of a person’s gear on the Internet and would rather provide constructive feedback so you can go back and get better. If we receive equipment that doesn’t meet these standards we will reply directly with recommendations for improvement. We feel this gives everyone a fighting chance and will only help to improve your end product.

Product and Business Announcements:

If you’ve got something new you want to get out there let us know. If its a product, simply send us a pic of the item and a description of it and we will consider posting it. This will not be an endorsement of the product. Same goes for business announcements, think along the lines of a press release.

Reader Submitted Content

We are always looking for content. If you have an idea for an article that you think will fit the theme of the blog feel free to shoot us an email. Same goes for any companies or gear you come across that you think we might be able to write about.

Also from time to time we will be asking for specific types of content from our readers. This may be done in conjunction with giveaway contests.
