762 Tactical – Chi Com Chest Rig
Ok this has been a long time in the works. Colin from 762 Tactical sent us a Chi Com Chest Rig for review a few months back and we’ve finally gotten around to putting a video together for it.
I’ll start by saying I am not an “AK guy” my experience is limited to familiarization training and fun shoots. So I don’t claim to be an expert on it. But the review is not intended to be based on functionality.
My overall impression is that the rig is very well made. This is a basic chest rig just like the original with minimal bells and whistles, just like the weapons system it is designed to be used with. Some nice features include, adjustable flaps, PALS on either side of mag pouches and non snag pouch edges.
My only gripe would be the depth of the pockets, they are deeper than I’d prefer but my guess is that this is in staying true to the original design.
Colin sent me retail pricing but that was a while back, so I’m not too sure if that has changed. I’ll email him and update this article when I get the latest info.
You can contact Colin through his website www.762tactical.com, 762 also has an eBay store at http://myworld.ebay.com/762tactical/
Another point to note is 762 Tactical is sponsoring our next contest, and this rig is going to be the “prize” for so stay tuned for details.

Great review. the pouches do seem long, but that can help keep crud out. the price point is perfect.
@tim
Thanks Tim, good point on keeping the crud out.
Hey Mike thanks for the review.
I went with the full depth pouch because of the feedback I was getting from the AK users when I first started selling this rig. Most the guys I talked to wanted full coverage to protect the mags form the elements as well as keep them from contacting the weapon. Plus the pouches will hold AK 40 rounders and 10 round Sagia 12ga. mags. I do have a custom option for a 2/3 height pouches for those who prefer access over coverage but you loose some adjustability.
Just a note: Most polymer mags tend to sit a little higher and are much easier to remove from the pouches than the steel type. And the Kodra I have been using is labeled “Kodra 66″, I’m not sure if its the same as standard Kodra? Part of the reason I can keep the cost down on this rig is because of the Kodra. I have sold a couple hundred of these since I sent the sample rig to you and have had allot of good feedback.
Did I miss the price somewhere? Also I totally understand if that was the consensus of info why you went with the deep pouch, but man that just seems like it would be hard to get a good grip on the mag for a speedy reload. 762tactical….what do you mean you loose some adjustability with the 2/3 height pouches? You mean as far as the flap is concerned?
The pouches are 8″ beep on the standard ChCom, the 2/3 height is 5.5″. So the flaps have to be longer for the 2/3 pouches and the adjustment for the flap is cut down by 2″, limiting what you can run in the pouch. Allot of people fun other things inside their mag pouches other than rifle magazines. Plus the full size pouches have enough room to get your fingers into them to get a decent hold on the mags. It’s all personal preference.
Right now I sell them direct for $39.99 for solid colors and $44.99 for Multicam and other camo patterns. EBay prices are higher because they rape you with fees.
is there other review out there to read? and is there room to mount a pistol on the rig?
Looks like the PALS on both sides of the pouches would allow for a MOLLE holster. I have another rig like that and that’s what I did…
Wow, $40? That sounds like an awesome price to me for a quality rig like this. I’ve been thinking about a dedicated AK rig lately. I may have to take you up on a coyote one……at the risk of being put in the dog house for buying “another army thing” as my wife likes to call any kind of tactical gear. LOL
Update: I have lowered the pouch depth a full 1″! After this review I kept getting customers contacting me wanting the mag pouches lowered. It now works better with AR15/M4 Mags and AK’s stick out more for a better grasp. so there you have it.
BCS AK47 Low Profile Chest Rig

Mil spec webbing and velcro. Fully adjustable shoulder straps, adjustable waist strap. Five AK47 magazine pouches. Elastic pull tab retainers. Large internal pocket. Low profile
That’s awesome BCS, why don’t you send one to Mike for review instead of taking away from a review of 7.62 Tacs gear mate.
7.62, nice work and that’s a very good price for the quality of that rig.
@BeezCombatSystems
And your “BCS AK47 Low Profile Chestr Rig” is only twice the price of the our Chicom Chest Rig!
Thats quite an inprovment on the old Chi-Com chest rig…
I like it. The price looks great to. Glad to see an American who is not trying to rape his fellow
countrymen in times like these.
Looks like I will have to put one of these “762 Tactical – Chi Com Chest Rig”s on my list.
I kinda like the idea of having the 8″ mag pouch for 40 rounders… perfect for those slabside bulgy mags with the steel in the feed lips.
