Favorite piece of kit this year?
Well, the year is coming to an end, damn that went by quick, didn’t it?. Anyway, we think it might be fun to pose an openended question to our readers and see if we can kick up some interaction.
So here it is. We’d like to know what has been the best piece of gear you have used this year? Lets split it up into two categories, Tactical and/or EDC.
Leave a comment and let us know.

Not sure what category it should go in, but my skull and needles T-shirt ranks high up there.
@Tony
MyCGRPointsHa! Now that’s a piece of gear we can get behind.
I would have to say my SUREFIRE helmet light because I use it almost everyday….with my Paratrooper Mountain bike….
@Timothy A. bokousky
MyCGRPointsWell never thought I would see a bike in this post…
EDC: Buck Strider SBMF, I carry it every day and it keeps on kicking.
Tactical: Karrimor SF 80-130 lt ruck. After a decade of humping an Alice I’m starting to get the feeling back in my shoulders.
I love my sneaky bag. its the perfect rifle fighting bag. Just the right size, and not tactical at all.
I would say the OSOE Micro Rig. Works great under the seat or over the headrest of a patrol car, good for small, fast in and out type military ops and great for those of you civilians out there who need something to carry 4 AK/M4 mags and your med kit to take a class or to have as a partner to your rifle. Well built, well designed and like all OSOE gear bombproof.
@Alex
Ironic that gear made by a convicted felon, is being used in a patrol car. Was the micro rig designed by the fake SEAL?
Hands down, tactical gear, Paraclete SOPHC.
@Bill/ Alex
Johns a good guy, shit happens. Doesn’t mean the gear isn’t good to go. The micro rig is the shit for low pro set ups.
Bill and Brandon, I appreciate the feedback. I have never had any problems with John or his gear, thats me personally, same thing with the “fake SEAL”. The stuff works and it hasn’t failed me yet.
In the EDC category, I would have to say it is my Triple Aught Design (T.A.D.) Life Capsule. I always have it with me and have found several uses that were not last ditch survival situations. From lighting grills to fixing broken zipper pulls it always gets me out of a pinch. They are currently out of stock, but I understand that a new model is in the works.
MyCGRPointsI know I’m a little late to post here but my best piece of new gear is the T.R.U.S.S. holster. A suspended belly band (http://www.specgear.com/), I can almost get an entire duty-belt worth of stuff in it and its very comfortable.
MyCGRPointsI made myself a Commando type chest rig with PALS on the sides instead of the fixed pouches (like Blackhawk’s) and a padded hydration carrier that I just can’t seem to use enough. I’ve always lover those big flaps…..
MyCGRPointsMy CRKT Sting could go in either category – I wear it horizontal at work and its just about invisible along my belt, makes a great letter/parcel opener. With a little practice, these knives throw well too!!
MyCGRPointsMan, why all the nastiness?!
