Review: 215 Gear – Multi-Mission Weapon’s Retention

I wanted to get this initial write up out and will follow up with a short video. I recently received several items from 215 Gear who we’ve reviewed in the past and among them was a pretty cool and simple weapon retention lanyard. Called the Multi-Mission Weapon’s Retention it comes in both black and khaki.

215_banner_smIt consists of a length of tubular webbing that contains a piece of bungee within it. Each end has a specific piece of hardware, one being a screw link and the other what is commonly referred to as a field repair side release buckle. The hardware is held by loops that are sewn down with 3 bartacks on each side.

One of the unique aspects is that it is designed to mount to the PALs grid of your armor or load carrying system as opposed to the belt like most other designs. The way it attached is very simple and can be seen in the pics below. Because it is elastic it keeps the weapon in place and against the body but flexes to minimize restriction of movement.

There are a couple of obvious applications where this device would be useful. FAST Roping, negotiating obstacles, securing a secondary long weapon like a breaching shotgun etc. This also integrates nicely with the 215 Gear Multi-Mission Single Point Sling.

MSRP is $29.99 and should be available on their website soon as well as with their usual dealers.

Video and additional photos to follow.
