Review: 215 Gear Blended Operators Hat

November 18th, 2008 Leave a comment Go to comments

We recieved the brand new Blended Operators Hat from 215 Gear the other day.

Best way to describe this hat is to think Truckers hat meets operators hat. The cut is that of a standard low profile type with loop patches on the front top and back for attachment of IFF or other types of patches. There is not button on the top which often makes wearing hearing protection and communications headsets uncomfortable. The size is adjusted by the hook and loop strap in the back.

Underneath the visor there is a hook compatable material to assist in cutting out glare as well as providing a platform to mount small Photon type lights.

The most unique feature is the replacement of the normally solid cloth side panels with mesh. This greatly enhances the air circulation and provides for a truely unique piece of headgear.

The hat which is 100% made in the USA, is available in Multicam and solid Khaki. Retail price is $24.99 and available directly from 215 Gear.

I love this hat. It comes in real handy when you’re out in the desert or some place that is or hotter than hell and you’re trying to get in some trigger time at the range while you got earpro on.

I just received one for my birthday. Great hat. Fit is about a medium/large. I have a enormous head and the depth is only a little small on me.

Definitely looks like a bad ass hat!! I must say though it kinda looks weird being able to see your head through the hat. Wonder if that mesh material is tight enough to keep your head from getting sunburned? Just a thought.
